About Flashcards World

What we do

Flashcards World is a free study platform for learners worldwide. We help people memorise vocabulary, formulas, dates, names, and any other paired information faster — using spaced repetition, audio review, writing practice, drawing practice, and matching games.

You can build your own flashcard sets from scratch, generate them with AI from a topic or a PDF, or pick from thousands of community decks across languages, science, medicine, music, history, and more. Everything is free; an optional Pro upgrade unlocks AI generation, ad-free browsing, and Audio Review across multiple decks at once.

We're available as a Android app, an iOS app, and on the web at flashcards.world. Sets sync across all three when you sign in.

How we approach learning

Memorisation works best when paired with the right schedule. Our Practice mode uses the FSRS algorithm — an open-source spaced repetition scheduler that adapts intervals to your actual recall performance — so you spend more time on the cards you're about to forget and less time on the ones you already know. Audio Review lets you study hands-free during commutes or exercise; Writing Review forces active recall; Drawing Review works particularly well for anatomy, scripts, and visual material.

Who we are

Flashcards World is built by Flashcards World SL, a company registered in Spain. The team is small and independently funded — we don't sell user data, we don't cross-promote unrelated apps, and we don't gate basic studying behind a paywall. Our income comes from optional Pro upgrades and non-intrusive advertising on the free tier.
