Your First Web Deck: A Practical Editor Walkthrough

Start with a small deck you can check from beginning to end. A title such as “Spanish — café phrases” is easier to recognize later than “Vocabulary,” and gives you a clear boundary for what belongs in the set.

Name the deck and set its languages

From your set list, choose CREATE SET. In the editor, enter a name in Name your deck…. Open Add description, category & languages to add context or choose Front Language and Back Language. For an existing set, Edit details opens these fields.

For example, use Spanish on the front and English on the back if your terms are Spanish phrases and your definitions are English meanings. These language settings help route spoken card text and supply starting languages for translation. They do not translate existing cards by themselves.

You can add a description such as “Phrases for ordering drinks; informal examples.” Use a category if it helps you organize your collection, then select Done to close the details area.

Add a few complete cards

Choose Add Card. Put the prompt in Term and the answer in Definition. Add any context needed to make the prompt unambiguous to the Term or Definition.

For a text deck, fill both sides before saving. A draft with a term but no answer is incomplete. Completely blank drafts do not become useful cards merely because they are visible in the editor.

Try these pairs:

Term	Definition
Un café, por favor.	A coffee, please.
¿Cuánto cuesta?	How much does it cost?
Para llevar.	To go / takeaway.

Read each pair as if you were studying it. If two different answers could reasonably fit the same prompt, add a context clue or clarify the definition. If the answer contains several unrelated facts, consider separate cards.

Choose an editing view for the task

List gives each card a row for a sequential read-through. Grid shows cards in a tile layout. Spreadsheet is useful on a desktop when you want to compare terms and definitions across rows.

These are views of the same cards. Switching views does not create another deck. The editor remembers your view choice; on narrow screens, a saved Spreadsheet preference falls back to List.

Use the editor's search box to locate a card in a longer set. If you cannot see a card you expect, check whether search is filtering the list before adding a duplicate.

Save and inspect before studying

Select Save cards after completing your new cards. Existing card edits also save in the background; the save-status indicator reports saving, saved, or a failure. Do not ignore a save error, and complete both sides of new drafts before leaving the editor.

Open the deck for a short review and check that the prompts, answers, and languages are what you intended. Fix any confusing card before adding many more in the same pattern.
